Learn about our community housing for young adults!
Many young Israelis, including Ayalim’s alumni, are passionate about building their homes in the Negev or the Galilee. Despite their good will, they face a critical challenge. The peripheral regions that yearn for development and are desperate for young idealistic communities, suffer a severe shortage of rentable housing units. This discourages growth, and leads to the neglect that these areas suffer from.
These new housing units will make it possible for young Israelis who wish to make their homes in the Negev or the Galilee, to do so, thus bringing new energy and development to these areas. Only such vibrant young communities will have the strength and power to make a difference, to succeed in what has failed until today-bringing life to Israel’s periphery.
Five new neighborhoods will be in the building process over the course of three years. The project includes 122 units, comprising 5 small communities in cities and rural areas across the Negev and the Galilee. The young communities will be located in Mitzpe Ramon, Yeruham, Dimona, Maalot and Hazor Hagelilit. The Israeli government has decided to allocate one third of the building costs. The UIA (Keren Hayesod) is matching the government’s funding.
